About
Family Owned and Operated
We are natives of this area and love the beauty, nature, and history of central PA. But even more than that, we love beer! We decided to open a brewery for that one reason. We started tasting craft beers at the many breweries we have encountered during our travels. It has been a journey that developed into a passion. We hope to make Olde Bedford Brewing Company a reflection of ourselves as we create beer we like to drink and hope that you will too!
Our Story
In 1794, Bedford, Pennsylvania was at the heart of the Whiskey Rebellion as President George Washington personally led thousands of soldiers into this town to put down tax protesting patriots in Western Pennsylvania.
In keeping with the history of “Olde Bedford”, we were inspired to carry this historical theme into our brewery. George Washington may have spent time in Bedford planning for the Whiskey Rebellion, but we know George loved beer! He even kept a record of his Small Beer recipe in his notebook while he was a Colonel in 1737. (Baron, 1962)
Our beers are crafted with spring water and often hops (that we grow) on our own Hideaway Ranch, located in the mountains of Bedford County. As we create new brews, we will surprise your taste buds with unique and delicious flavors along with traditional brews we are sure you will love.
We are currently located in Historic Uptown Bedford, where we can embrace the History of “Olde Bedford” while making it close and convenient to the public.
Our Brewery
We provide an eclectic and original style of beer to our customers leveraging the brewing renaissance which is exploding across the nation. In addition to in-house sales, outside distribution of beer will establish OldeBBC as both a pub and production micro-brewery. Olde Bedford Brewing Company is the FIRST, licensed brewery located in Bedford County since the county’s inception in 1771.
One of our goals is to distinguish ourselves as a Farm to Cask pub/micro-brewery. Our farm, located in the headwaters of the Bob’s Creek drainage, Bedford County, has provided us with an outstanding agricultural environment to obtain some of the essential ingredients to enhance our beer recipes. Over the past four years, as local homebrewer’s, we have successfully used our own awarding winning hops, berries, and natural spring water to create some of our delicious beer.
